Why activate Airbags?

The European End of Life vehicle directive explains the need to remove or neutralise airbags from scrap cars. Many vehicle manufacturers and most European member states insist that Airbags from ELV´s must be either removed or deployed before the vehicle is crushed or shredded.
As more and more vehicles coming to dismantlers contain multiple airbags, manual removal poses several risks and makes little economic sense.
Tests carried out by Toyota motor company point to a 90% time saving when using the SEDA Airbag Master as compared to manual removal.
